The Gospel can calm a heart in a time of trouble. Yvonne from Hadleigh works in a care home for the elderly. She sent us this story:
“I got talking with a colleague of mine about faith. I ended up handing her a Gospel of John which I had on me…about a week later she met with me and excitedly said she has something to share with me.
“She narrated how a client had suffered a fall during a shift and while they waited for an ambulance she felt much sympathy for the client who was very unsettled and in pain. She then brought out the pocket Gospel and began to read it to the client who started to calm down almost immediately.
“My colleague was amazed and said it happened like a miracle! There is power in the good news of Jesus!”
Jesus is the source of supernatural peace that comes only from God. His peace is precious and can be experienced no matter what our circumstances. The Apostle Paul wrote:
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
(Philippians 4:7, NIV)
